Chico Palio ~ the kickoff event for Artoberfest. “Palio” refers to the Italian word of competition between neighbors. Instead of racing real horses like in the Palio di Siena in Italy, community members create and race horse sculptures made of papier-mache, recycled materials and more - Noon-5pm - One-Mile & Sycamore Field.

Patrick Ranch is buzzing with bees - Two workshops starting at 11am. For adults a Power Point presentation will show you how to create a bee-friendly habitat. Presenters:Jeanette Alosi & Tom Hansen, Butte County Master Gardeners. ~ ~ ~ For children (ages 5-10yrs) the workshop will include an interactive story about bees. Honey samples will be passed out. Friends of Butte Creek host the 8th Annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival ~ All day event beginning at the Pageant Theater with (1) Wild and Scenic Children’s Program featuring two showings at 9:30 and 11:00 AM. (2) and at 1pm the premiere showing of "DamNation", just released this spring, about how removing dams has freed rivers across the country. Other films of a rivers & fish theme accompany this film.
