City of Chico - Imagine Chico
The City of Chico is updating its General Plan and invites the community to participate by attending a “visioning” workshop. The first in a series, the Imagine Chico workshop has been designed to solicit input from the community by taking participants through a series of exercises that will provide City residents the opportunity to share their ideas about life in Chico.

The workshop will help identify what the community values and what are considered to be the key opportunities and challenges for the General Plan Update effort. Attendees will learn how the General Plan Update will be used like a “blueprint” for the City, and how their input can shape the General Plan Update and the future of the City of Chico.

Kids and Creeks - Outdoor Science Education, K through 12
Kids & Creeks offers outdoor education programs to elementary school classes and communities in Butte County. Volunteers, including university and high school students, teachers, parents, and community members, participate in field trips. In recent years public education curriculum has increasingly focused on the core subjects of math, reading, and writing leaving little room for other important subjects such as science and the arts. By developing activities that focus on these subjects we provide educational opportunities that are not otherwise available. During field trips to local parks and nature reserves we fill an educational void while connecting young citizens to their local environment and instilling a sense of stewardship through community involvement.

Tree Action - It's time to extend the Tree Ordinance!

TreeAction has been gathering views and information about strengthening Chico's Tree Ordinance, and planning a presentation to the Internal Affairs Committee of the City Council. We would love to have your thoughts on what should be in an extended Tree Ordinance.

Chico Cares

Chico Advocates for a Responsible Economy (C.A.R.E.) is a group of concerned citizens, committed to sound economic policies that promote smart growth while preserving the unique character of Chico. CARE is working to prevent both the expansion of the existing Wal-Mart on Forest Avenue, and the proposed Super Center in north Chico. We do not oppose the existing Wal-Mart. We do support responsible growth and believe two Super Centers are unnecessary and inconsistent with responsible development.

Nico Project
The Nico Project opened to the public on 7-10-2007, Nico's birthday. The project required support from over 700 people and companies. In 12 months they raised nearly $120,000. Dozens of companies donated approximately $40,000 worth of time and materials. 90% of cash raised was spent on things kids can actually play on. The fundraising and planning occurred during a 19 month period, with construction taking 8 weeks.
